Introductory Photography Class

I often times hear, “I love this photo!  How did you…?”  Since we can’t be present to capture the spontaneous moments in your life, allow us to teach you how to use your camera.  BTW Photography offers a three-hour course for beginners and intermediate photographers who are looking to learn the ins-and-outs of their camera and how to take beautiful photos.  Topics include shutter speed, ISO, aperture, lighting, white balance, composure, posing portraits, metering, and approach to shooting different subjects (kids, senior portraits, couples/family portraits, engagement sessions).  Each course takes a hands-on approach; you are asked to bring your DSLR or point-and-shoot camera and your questions to the class.  A short portion of the class is spent indoors going over the mechanics of the camera and examining photos for style, lighting, and technique.   Following the tutorial, we spend the rest of the time outside taking photos and learning as we shoot.

Classes will take place at Fern Hill Golf Course on Clinton River Road in Clinton Township.

Intermediate Photography Course: From Shooting to Editing.

BTW Photography is excited to announce a 4-session photography class!  These classes go deeper into the mechanics of the camera, technique in shooting, and how to turn your photos into works of art.

Class 1:

This class will cover a deeper understanding of the mechanics of your camera and exposure.  Topics covered include: focusing modes, metering modes and using AE/AF Lock, bracketing, exposure compensation, scenario-specific shooting, use of flash, histograms, and more.

Class 2: Van Hoosen Farm

A hands-on photography session that focuses on family and children photography.  You will learn posing, lighting, and shooting techniques including  kids, senior photos, families, reading light and use of reflectors, use of available props for posing, and more.

Classes 3 and 4:

Two classes dedicated to turning your photos into works of art through basic editing programs.  For this class, you will need to bring either a laptop or desktop equipped with an editing program and a power supply.  While you can learn visually without a computer, it will help if you participate by editing in class.  We will begin by learning, hands-on, editing photos provided to you and finish by editing our own photos.  Topics covered include importing, workflow, storage and file saving, exposure, color enhancement, white balance correction, b/w, filters, histograms, levels, blemish correction, cropping, and more.
